US shows, what's exactly going on?

The Hollywood’s writers strike against their respective productions prevails since already 12 weeks. The main issue concerns the internet broadcast’s right which invaded gradually the TV and movie area. Every day, the WGA (Writer guild of America) organization settles front of the CBS, Fox, ABC, NBC… studios. Around 60 persons relieve each other during the whole day. One directive allows the strike maintenance. Whenever one author would break down the latter, he would be excluded for all his life and losses his insurance advantage. Indeed, WGA represents also their social security office.

The WGA claims the adaptability of the author royalties to the media’s context. In brief, they want to receive royalties on the internet broadcast. Their reclaim seem to be justified. For instance, as Me De Los Santos said during the course of an interview, one Lost season is available on the ABC website. In a short, all the season will be produced on internet and no more on the TV. In 15 years, when internet will replace the TV, if the writer conventions cannot be applied to internet, they would loss all their advantages.   

Humanly and economically painful:

After 2 months and half of inactivity, the little writers are trapped.  Without any income, they fall in a precariousness situation. Of course, that is not valuable for the big production writers such as lost or desperate housewives. Without incomes, they cannot pretend any more to a social insurance and have some trouble to pay back their apartment credit. In the other hand, they cannot work without reprisal from the WGA mentioned above. What could they do? Wait and see.

Unfortunately for all the fans, we can only keep waiting …
